Can't Mend

Photobucket

Apparently I'm unable to mend on my own.

I met with the surgeon and he said that my best option is surgery.

Originally they were saying that it is arthroscopic.
Apparently this is not the case.

He said they are going to cut me open about 2 inches, cut through the muscle to the vertebrae, make the opening bigger on the vertebrae...

I interrupted him here and asked how they were going to do that.

He said they take a bone saw and shave it down.

At this point I mentally blacked out for a minute, wide-eyed with a slightly hysterical smile on my face that I'm sure made me look like a crazy person.

The surgeon, sensing my panic stricken state, then said, "You want details? I'll give you details."

I replied with
"Next time I ask please say 'We just do.' okay?"

To which he amusingly responded with;
"We just do."
and smiled at me.

Then he went on to explain that once they are in there they will magically shave the bone down, then cut off the part of the disc that is bulging which will immediately release the pressure on my sciatic nerve, which is currently being crushed. Then reattach the muscle, sew me back up, make sure I wake up from the anesthesia and then send me home.

And they will be doing it on November 17th.
One week from today!

I vacillate between extreme happiness that this is almost over, and panicked hysterical hyperventilation with the process that gets me there.

I have been doing a lot of crafts to keep my mind off of it.

Just wait and see the adorable little hats we're making for Eden's Birthday party, which we had to reschedule from November 19th for December 3rd so that Mom can be there.

Doesn't matter, you wait until you see, it's going to be amazing!!

Kids are at my parents for the weekend.

I'm going to enjoy some quality uninterrupted, non-freaking out, laying down time.

Love,
The Mrs.
